PRAYERPrayer and the Bible for young children
5_finger_prayer.pdf File Size:27 kb File Type:pdf Download File Create a Ritual: This link will take you to a brief video about how your family can create a ritual: https://player.vimeo.com/video/38927780 Remember: you can create a prayer ritual, but you can also create another kind ritual which is meaningful or fun for your family. (note: this will also be listed under family fun activities.) The Rosary: You can pray the Rosary here at church on Monday-Tuesday or Friday at 9:45 am. The rosary is a meditative prayer tradition during which you say certain prayers and use the beads of the rosary to keep track of the prayers. You can pray the whole rosary together, or maybe pray one decade (set of 10 Hail Mary's) at day for a few days in a row with younger kids. Make sure you really think and talk about the mysteries...the 2nd link below gives a little more detail about them...as they are based on the life of Mary and Jesus in the Bible. For an added challenge you can find the mysteries in the Bible. (Hint: they are in the Gospels and the stories of Jesus birth and childhood are found in Luke.) The first link is about how to pray the rosary and includes a link to all of the prayers. If you need rosaries please let me know. Eucharistic Adoration: There is Adoration on Tuesdays at OLPH in the chapel from 9am-3:20pm. This is an opportunity to pray quietly in front of the displayed consecrated Body of Christ. It is appropriate to genuflect on entering the chapel and then sit or kneel quietly for an appropriate amount of time for you. Some will pray the rosary, read scripture or other spiritual readings, or say other types of prayers. I like to sit quietly and listen and be aware of how much God loves us. You can come and go anytime if you are quiet and considerate. (For small children a few minutes may be all that is reasonable, but for older kids and adults staying 30 minutes or even longer is a nice way to learn to be quiet and step away from the busyness of life.) Sacrament of Reconciliation : The First Saturday of the month, promptly at 3:30 pm in the Sacristy 9. RESOURCES DURING THE SUSPENSION OF MASS
